Twisted Insurrection: Public Beta 4 Has Been Released! Posted by Aro on Wed, 26 Sep 2012 21:18:13 +0200 - (0 comments)

We, the Twisted Insurrection team are very pleased to announce that our latest version, Public Beta 4 has been released!

Since the Re-Issue of Public Beta 3, we have been working hard to get more of the essentials out of the way. The changelog is also very large and impressive due-to the short amount of time (In my opinion, at least) since the last release, you can view the changelog here!

Public Beta 4 includes several new campaign missions (A total of 8 GDI Missions and 13 Nod missions (8 and 9 are palceholder maps) so far), several new units and unit images, new additions to our unique soundtrack, new voices, options, several new and improved maps, coding and balance changes, gameplay improvements, tons of lag reduction, the implementation of Naval units (still in heavily testing phases at the moment) and much more!
Public Beta 4 is our most stable version to date as we have eradicated the source of the most common internal errors and hopefully we wont be seeing any more again (or for a long time at best). Online play is now much simpler to commence now too thanks to the new Twisted Insurrection launcher feature similar to the one used by one of our affiliate projects, The Dawn of the Tiberium Age (which we also reccomend you check out if you loved classic Tiberian Dawn!). Sadly as it is still beta, there are still several placeholder images being used, but this will not effect the game-play at all! Pretty soon we hope to get everything finished and finally come out of beta.
One of our new staff members, Henskelion, is working on CGI & FMV's for future Twisted Insurrection releases which will be available as soon as posisble.

If you are new to Twisted Insurrection, check out our website for more information!

Note: There will be no Public Beta 5, only patches up to this point thanks to the Launcher feature making this easier. The next release will be Twisted Insurrection 1.0. There will be a big patch update based on Public Feedback around Xmas time, as is our tradition.

Enjoy, ladies and gentlemen. We'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Project Phantom - 2012 - Media/Progress Update Posted by Starkku on Sat, 21 Jan 2012 19:35:24 +0100 - (8 comments)

Project Phantom - 2012

Quite long time since last public progress update of any sorts, this newspost will bring you some media and other small things that'll hopefully show where the project is headed towards. The title does not only reflect the fact that this is first newspost of the year for Project Phantom, it also means I am aiming for first public release during this year.

Website

Project Phantom website has been brought up-to-date, with new unit & structure profiles that come with in-game screenshots. Additionally there is some new extra visual appeal to the layout of the site.

Media

Let's start from one of the more important aspects of this progress/media update. As you can see from the screenshot below, several Dominion structures have had a graphical makeover, replacing the recolored Westwood assets with all new artwork, and rest of them are to follow in future. This change has also altered the way some of the structures work, as well. In-depth detail on individual units & structures can be found on website. Another thing to note is currently work-in-progress Tundra theatre, a collaboration between me & m666 of Final War fame that will eventually replace Arctic theatre.

Click on the image to view it in a full size.

And no, I am not going to limit this graphical overhaul just to Dominion structures, other sides will also get makeover, in due a time. Phantom Power Core shown in image below.

Click on the image to view animation of the structure. It looks bit better in-game than in this, to be fair.

This of course means that mod is going to have some civilian/misc. eye candy as well, here's pictures of some doodads and those country flag things in-game, respectively.

Click on the images to view them in a full size.

And finally, 3 misc. screenshots that were taken during beta testing online games of Project Phantom.

Click on the images to view them in a full size.

What's next?

In near future you could expect more media and showcases, in form of screenshots and possibly video footage as well. Mod content I am currently working on, aside from already mentioned structure graphic overlay & Tundra theatre along with other terrain improvements, involve technology branches, support powers and stolen technology. On top of that, I've been trying to do some map work, replacing some not-so-good or otherwise unfitting maps with more interesting ones. All of this will be showcased eventually too, in one form or another.

Final notes

Project Phantom is also currently looking for people capable of filling following roles in development.

- Infantry Artist.
- Mapper
- Concept/Promotional Art Creator.

More information available here.

Until next time.

Twisted Insurrection: Tiberian Dawn - Nod Victory

The year is now 2019. The Tiberian World now stands with a very uncertain fate. The two most powerful and influential forces on the planet are trapped in a never ending dead lock of war and combat. Whilst the Global Defense Initiative has suffered many blows and military defeats, the faction itself still stands strong and has shown the world its amazing ability to endure harsh punishments and has recovered much lost ground. The Brotherhood of Nod has struggled and triumphed over its enemies, only for its victory to be short lived by the death of Kane the Messiah, causing an ever lasting deterioration through the Brotherhood and leading to defeats and chaos amongst the large faction. With the end of the First Tiberian War comes the dawn and age of a new, second Tiberian War, with new terrifying possibilities and potential. The fate of Earth lies dangerously unknown. Welcome to the Twisted Insurrection commander.

Generals 2 Is The Next C&C Posted by Doctor Destiny on Sun, 11 Dec 2011 02:30:26 +0100 - (15 comments)

Based on some findings through EA's Origin Service, Generals 2 is going to be our next Command & Conquer title.

Quote:
Features:
  • All-Out War — Take control of three unique factions, competing for resources, building up your base of operation, and leading massive batteries of tanks, soldiers, and aircraft into battle.
  • Uncanny Sense of Realism — Frostbite 2 technology allows for visceral, visually stunning conflict at an epic scale. Incredibly detailed units and environments, dynamic physics, and exhilarating visual effects bring the battle to life in ways never before seen. This is the closest thing to real war without the consequences.
  • New Ways to Dominate or Ally with Your Friends — Go beyond classic deathmatch with a selection of new multiplayer game modes, designed with both cooperative and competitive play in mind.
  • Thrilling Campaign — Command the war on terror in an electrifying single-player campaign. Experience the dramatic story from multiple perspectives — from heroic General to crazed terrorist — while engaging the enemy in pulse-pounding tactical combat.
  • Ever-Evolving Experience — Enhance your game with an expanding array of downloadable content. From maps and units to factions, campaigns, and more, the fight against terrorism is deeper than ever.

Thanks goes to Sonic for the pictures.

Vote for Twisted Insurrection!

We're not quite finished here yet.
With the launch of Public Beta 3, we are also pleased to re-announce the Twisted Insurrection Mapping Competition!

The rules are simple and easy to follow, but it's suggested that you read through the Twisted Insurrection: Mappers Guide before you attempt to start on a map. Here is a summary of the map competition rules:

1 - Only One map per entrant.
2 - Map remakes from any C&C game are allowed, but they must be remade from scratch, not just modified versions of the originals.
3 - If you post any previews of your maps anywhere before the competition deadline, you will be disqualified and your map will be marked as void and will not be judged in the competition.
4 - You may modify your submission after you have submitted it, but be sure to get the new submission to me (Aro) on time.
5 - Entries must be submitted to Aro (Me) via Private Message by the 25th of January 2012 (00:00 GMT)
6 - Twisted Insurrection staff members may also enter the competition

The best maps and winning maps will be included in Twisted Insurrection as an official map selection. The top 3 winners will also receive a Twisted Insurrection banner/signature by default.

MV lives... Kinda Posted by Lt Albrecht on Tue, 30 Aug 2011 15:35:41 +0200 - (9 comments)

So I want to finish MV, and I know what I want the game to play like. But, I also know some of it isn't quite possible yet, and there are some details I'm not clear on. When Ares 0.2 comes out I'm sure I'll find some fun things I want to do with MV and in between now and then there's plenty of time for discussion as to what the mod is aiming for. Whether you're staff or just interested, feel free to talk to me about the mod, ideas relating to it and anything else you think seems relevant/interesting.

End of February News! Posted by SMxReaver on Tue, 01 Mar 2011 06:40:05 +0100 - (2 comments)

As many around here know, I've been hosted on a larger and more active site known as Project Perfect Mod. Without having any intentions of ignoring this place, I bring you the same thing they got; a new video showing that the Soviet Empire is finished and most of the bulk code work is done.

If you're interested, stumble along over to the PPM Base of Operations and check it out!

Twisted Insurrection: Public Beta 2 Has Been Released!

New Year's Red Alert X Beta Release! Posted by Doctor Destiny on Sat, 01 Jan 2011 21:41:24 +0100 - (1 comments)

It's a new year and there's a new beta release. I decided it was time to let the people have a run at Red Alert X, which has been stuck in development for quite some time. The current release is good for multiplayer and skirmish only so have fun with those.

This mod requires LaunchBase and Ares to be played. Download the LaunchBase and it should install Ares for you. If it does not, check Advanced Mode under Tools > Options. Then the Ares menu will be available.

With out further ado:
DOWNLOAD THE MOD!

As always, let me know if something breaks or if something is missing.

Happy playing!

End-of-year status update Posted by SMxReaver on Wed, 29 Dec 2010 19:31:57 +0100 - (7 comments)

Well, the end of the year is a few days away, and for a rare news post I thought I'd update everyone on the condition of the mod. Much has happened over the last year, from the evolution of YR: Incursion to Soviet Dawn: Incursion to CnC: Final War. Many features have changed, many old units have vanished in favor of new ones. Art styles have changed quite a few times, as well as the level of completion the mod stands.

Right now, I can say that:
- The Allied Coalition lacks a few minor tweaks to individual units, and their support powers. There are a few graphical changes I plan to make, but for the most part their status in the beta is set as complete.
- The Soviet Empire has had the most development this year, going from failed attempts to a 3/4ths completed side (at the time of writing). They still need a China ally coded in, as well as plenty of beta testing and some more support weapons. This is the furthest the Soviet side has ever made it into the development of the mod's life.
- PsiExoda is the only side that lost some development, pending a redesign and retooling of their army. While they're still mind-control, genetic masterminds with no concept of ethics or morality with their weapons, they have no coding done as the old beta version of PsiExoda seen in Soviet Dawn: Incursion is gone.
- The mod has gained a semi-total conversion status, denoting the change in tone, goals, and gameplay.
- The mod will be released in August 2011, at some point. This will be the last month I can really work on the mod, as my free time after that will be consumed by school and work. 2011 is a pretty busy year for me as well, so we'll see how much I can do before an official release.

And lastly, I'd like to celebrate my success on completion of Yugoslavia as a Soviet Empire nation with their defense of several important (and damaged) tech structures.
